Quick N’ Easy Basil Pesto

Quick N’ Easy Basil Pesto is a classic Italian condiment made from fresh basil leaves, garlic, pine nuts, Parmesan cheese, and olive oil. Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh basil leaves
  • 1/3 cup pine nuts
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
  • Salt, to taste

Preparation

  1. Step 1: Rinse the fresh basil leaves and pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture
  2. Step 2: In a food processor or blender, combine the basil leaves, pine nuts, and garlic, and process until the mixture is well combined and the basil is finely chopped
  3. Step 3: Add the Parmesan cheese to the processor and process until the cheese is well combined with the basil mixture
  4. Step 4: With the processor running, slowly pour in the olive oil through the top, and process until the pesto reaches the desired consistency
  5. Step 5: Season the pesto with salt to taste, and process for another minute to combine
  6. Step 6: Transfer the pesto to an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator for up to 1 week

Chef’s Tip: To prevent the pesto from turning brown, make sure to press a layer of plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the pesto before storing it in the refrigerator
